Since last Friday was Veteran's day, Kyle got the day off of work (Yipee!!) We decided to take the opportunity with the long weekend to go to Ocean City. It is about three hours away. We started out around 11:00 so we had a few hours of light after we got there. Of course the drive was beautiful as always. Perfect time for long drives...
| The view of the Temple from the freeway. |
| The biggest bridge I have ever crossed in a car. |
| Jo checking out our room... |
| ...and the amazing view! |
| Writing names in the sand, |
| finding sea shells, |
| climbing on rocks, |
| and trying to pull ropes out of the sand. :) |
| Perfect day. |
| The sunset was beautiful. |
| Since it was a bit windy, my boys got a kite. |
| After all those adventures, little Jo was wiped out! |
The next morning we woke up to this beauty. First time in my life to watch the sun rise over the Ocean.
When we went down to breakfast, an older man came up to us and asked if we wanted to show the little boys something cool. He and his wife's room was just above ours. We were on the 4th floor. When we were all done we went back to our rooms and waited...
The old man started throwing bread from the balcony, and seagulls came to pick it up. It was so fun for us to see the birds grab the grub right out of the air. Sweet old guy...
We had our second round of flying the kite, finding shells, and letting our feet melt into the sand.
While the older boys played and Jonas napped, I got some reading time.
Then we walked the boardwalk.
| We had some of the marvelous malt vinegar fries from Thrasher's. |
| Yep. They were delicious. |
| And we stopped at a fun candy store for the boys (Jennie gave each of the boys a dollar to buy a special treat on the boardwalk. Like I said, she is an angel :) |
| Making sand castles, swimming, and ending another wonderful day. |
We got to experience another stunning sunrise before our drive back to Rockville. The clouds made this one so much different.
| Crab house on the drive back |
| And another view from the freeway. Seriously, so amazing. |
| Thank goodness for naps! |
Such a perfect weekend. Nothing better than being able to get away with the family.
